College as a Freshman: Welcome Week

August 24, 2026

I am currently writing this as I close my welcome week and go to my classes for the first time of many times. I've been trying to participate in more social interaction than when I went to high school, since there's not really a better time to start getting good at becoming more of an extrovert. There's been a ton of shenanigans personally since I've arrived, but overall I feel very fantastic and eager for the future of my career as of right now.

My thoughts

One of the benefits of college so far for me anyway is definitely having the ability to do whatever and whenever. The freedom to do as one pleases. Obviously I have to somewhat confine myself to the restraints of reasonability, but overall it has been an amazing experience, given all of the feedback I've been told from my friends. I still think there's some flaws, however, as I don't believe in perfection. Like I said, there's shenanigans, there's risk, and there's too little that I know that I could give a clear understanding.

A worry of mine (among other things)

I hopefully will not have to come across loans as often as I want to, as I don't want to burden me or my family with loans and debt. Living as an independent adult is quite frightening but also relaxing. It's weird in a way I can't describe, really. I get time to program whenever I want, but the responsibility is creeping in. And I'm not trying to avoid it at this point, either. I'm just trying to realize for myself that I can do this. I sometimes worry if I'm not programming enough, and if I'm not working enough, but I just have to keep my head up and understand that I'm here in a semester where coding isn't even required on my curriculum. I'm actually quite better off than most, if I put it in that way.

Closing statement

Overall, I'm liking college and the flow of life so far. I don't know how often I will update this, however, since I'm not particularly too into web development (excluding things I enjoy, of course). I'll try to update the blog, but it'd be better to go to my YouTube or my other socials to see what I've been more recently up to. Wishing you the best day.
